Floor Formal 2003

~Love Mum, Dad and Sis always~

Last night was a blast! It was another one of those hanging-out-with-my-floormates event. The girls were all pretty in their dresses and even the guys dressed up to the nines. Taking pictures were everyone's main goal that night. However, my battery ran out fast. So, I could not take lots of photos. How unfortunate u_u

We were out there in the chilly night with our pretty dresses and jeans/sweatpants to avoid freezing. Some of the girls did not change to running shoes and walked out in the cold with their high heels when IT WAS -25 DEGREES CELCIUS! I couldn't feel my ankles even though I was wearing jeans and running shoes. The girls who wore high heels could barely feel their toes! At the subway, it was a funny scene as we girls were taking off our pants and changing from running shoes to high heels. Everyone on the subway had their eyes on us. When we arrived at the Westin Hotel, we decided to stay at the lounge for a while and chill out with some alcohol and cocktails.

We had dinner at the Japanese Village, which was located across the road from Westin Hotel. The food was nothing fantastic. I would say it was not pure japanese food. They only served teriyaki steak, chicken and shrimp. Nothing very japanese in my opinion ^^. It was teppanyaki style. The chef cooked in front of us, showing us his great skill of handling knives. A very entertaining dinner indeed! We even discovered that he works for the university! He told us that he was in charge of setting up the databases at our school's library. What a coincidence ^^ After dinner, we took pictures again. That reminds me of the pictures I should get from other people's digital camera >_<

We returned to the floor and partied comfortably there. They made punch (with alcohol again) to drink. They can't survive without alcohol. Every occasion is alcohol-based and the number one thing to do if you're cool is to get drunk. So, there was loud music, fun games, crazy people...you basically can figure out the rest of it. Oh well. I couldn't drink much. After having that punch, I started to feel itchy again all over. I'm thinking I have the same effects that alcohol has on my dad. He gets all itchy when he drinks too much beer. I get itchy all over too after drinking. I only realized this after starting some social drinking here. Well, it's not that bad though. Come to think of it, this can be a good excuse to get away from drinking alcohol crazily with these people.

Although, I had fun and my white friends were pretty friendly during this occasion, it does not last long. The next morning they do not greet you like before. They still judge us as usual by our colour and our cultures. Last night, Brenda and I sat beside two white guys on our floor. They were pretty friendly. When one girl came to take a picture of us at the table, she said to them, "You guys are stuck with these girls the whole time". So, she's implying that they all pity them because they have to hang out with these two Asian girls. Oh well. Discrimination and racism still holds strong in their hearts. It's just too bad I have to bear seeing them all the time and not say anything about their bitchy ways or their silly mindset that drinking is a way to socialize. Well, I won't say much anymore. I've got a lab exam tomorrow at 8 am. Here are two pictures from last night's event. As usual, there are more at the link PICTURES .

Popsicle-Stick Bridge Competition!

~Love Mum, Dad and Sis always~

I skipped chem class again. I'm hoping I have time to study Chemistry before finals. Scary. Maybe I should start this weekend since I have a chem lab exam on Monday. I'm on the verge of falling behind in my assignments. Maybe it's just the heavy workload or my unintelligent mind. Oh well.

Today we competed with other first year teams in the bridge building competition. It was such an interesting event! Never in my life have I witnessed and participated in an event like this. There were about 30 of us in the lecture hall, each team holding on to their precious, spectacular bulit bridge. The machine to test the strength of the bridge was placed directly in front of the three judges who were sitting in a row. It was an interesting machine. At the center of the machine was an arm that will push the loading on to the top center of the bridge. After pressing on to the bridge and retrieving the maximum force exerted on the bridge, the arm is slowly moved away from the bridge, leaving the loading to sit on top of the bridge and see if the bridge is still intact, not broken. Some bridges were reallly strong...but those are really simple bridges without any fantastic designs. The highest record was 1400 Newtons on a bridge. My team managed a 327 Newtons. We were surprised as we thought it wouldn't get past a hundred =p. All in all, it was an eye-opening experience. Though we didn't win, we were placed 13th in the competition, which I thought was pretty excellent for us greenies. I took a lot of videos of bridges that were being tested. I will post the pictures some other day as there's some technical problems with this html thing. Ciao!

Halloween Party

~Love Mum, Dad and Sis always~

Boy, it sure was difficult to come up with a last minute costume for the party! I didn't have the time to go look for costumes. Not to mention it's freezing cold out there. So, I couldn't possibly walk to the costume shops that were located so far away from campus. Luckily brenda came up with this idea that i should go as a schoolgirl...a cute schoolgirl. She lent me her skirt (surprisingly i could fit into her skirt because she's so much skinnier than me). Then, i just put on a simple white shirt, wore a black pantyhose, and tied braids with my hair ^o^

I thought I looked sweet too. But I felt it sort of defeated the purpose of dressing up for the occasion (you're suppose to be scary). MAny of them dressed up as vampires, gothic goddess, aliens, monsters...

But, it was pretty okay i guess...considering the effort Brenda and I put in last night ^^
However, the party wasn't that exciting. There were games and i wasn't sure why they played a video of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" for us to watch. It didn't really feel like a party. One of us suggested to go clubbing after the party and so we ended up at 'THe Fox'. Quite a cool clubbing place, with security and very nice, sassy bars. So, we drank and we danced to the cool beats of a mixture of pop and old rock. I didn't drink much because I didn't want to get drunk at this rowdy place. I just danced a lot with my friends...the music was hot ^^. There were people dressed up in fancy costumes for the occasion. The costumes and props they had with them were fantastic. We also witnessesd a costume competition there. A girl, who dressed up as a cat, and a guy...who dressed up as an horny old man (he had a fake penis sticking out of his pants) won the contest. Haha...I noticed this "old man" walking around the club and oh my, i really did thought he was an old man when I accidentally bumped into him. So, I guessed he deserved to win that competition. It didn't cross my mind that he was just a normal canadian guy impersonating a horny old man ^^. O well...that was the funny bunch ^^

WE stopped dancing and drinking at 2.30am and... decided to go for supper because most of us were hungry hehe. So i got back to my residence at 4 am again...what a night ^^

At least I didn't get drunk this time...i really talk nonsense when i'm drunk. That's embarassing. And also I can't afford to get drunk too because I have to really really really look after my purse as it contained the most important thing in my life...my... PASSPORT!!!...

Okay...^o^ here are some pictures at the Halloween Party last night!

I am someone who frets a lot - I call it a psychological disorder. I am constantly trying to escape my complex mind which, very often, drives me and my close companions to the edge of insanity. Born under the sun star Libra, I am greatly affected by a disease called "indecisiveness". Nicknames were never part of my dictionary until I met some people who decided to name me "turtle". Soon, I was representing a zoo of hamsters, "sotongs", pigs, cats, etc...
