A Bout of Sillyness

Great. Things just keep getting worse. Now I am stuck with a badly sprained ankle and I am going to miss one dance class which is already paid for.

No more

My head is spinning on top of the world due to over-partying and lack of sleep. First, my cousin's wedding was held last weekend. I felt very happy for him, and for the first time I was able to help out with a lot of stuff, including some cooking preparation and baby-sitting.

I love my baby cousin so much. This baby boy is so adorable and he doesn't mind who carries him as long as you play with him. My heart melts each time he laughs :)

This is my mom and BobBob! Well his name is How Wen. Isn't he cute? ^^

Oh, but he is really heavy for a one-year-old! My arms were aching so bad. Oh, so cute ^^
I miss him already, hehe!

The wedding dinner was great, although it was a little warm and stuffy (the restaurant was old, and the condition of the washrooms were terrible >_<). I am still wondering how people can damage the toilet doors in one hour. But it was a happy occasion, and I drank too much wine. Naturally, I went tipsy. I couldn't actually walk straight.

Yesterday, there was a gathering for old secondary schoolmates at my place. I managed to book the BBQ pit for this occasion. It was sort of a last-minute thing but it turned out well. Everyone came but some were, as usual, fashionably late. Then again, I did not enjoy the whole situation. My parents should not have been the ones doing the cooking. I had little help with the BBQ for instance. But that was fine, as expected, usually 2 or 3 people will be doing the cooking for everyone else. However, I was already pissed towards the end of the occasion. Even my parents were not too happy seeing the situation - some people who should have lended a hand did not do so at all. Not one person offered to help me clean the place up. I kept the dishes, I cleaned the bbq pit, I picked up rubbbish all over...

Despite getting to meet everyone, especially those that I have not seen for 3 years, it was exhausting for me. And I was not feeling too well - I had a slight fever and flu. Fortunately, I will only do this once in a long while. The hassle, and the work ... it is too much for me alone to handle.

What the heck. At least I had fun in my bead jewelry class today though I was not having a clear mind due to fatigue. I made these new necklaces, check it out:

I'm glad Kan Wah called me today. I met up with him and William this afternoon. He was craving for bubble tea drink so we went to 1u and scout for that. Eventually, we ended up buying the bubble tea drink from Jusco which was not up to our expectations :P Silly Ah Boon. Anyway, it was quite fun today although I was dead tired. We played pool too at OSC and for the first time kan wah lost to me ^^ Not bad, eh? These friends of mine are pro in pool, so it is a good thing for me if I can win one game.

Beady art

Last night, I attended my first hip-hop dance class with my sis and mum. No doubt it was fun, but we had to do some basic stretching, and that really killed me. Since high school, I was never able to stretch far, where my hands will touch my toes. It was impossible, full of pain, and stressful. Needless to say, I am as stiff as a pole *nyek nyek*. Even mum is more flexible than I am. However, the dance instructor said these stretching tasks are in fact, more difficult for taller people. That was a relief. We did the moonwalk, the hip-hop forward and sideways ripple, and a few other basic moves. It was cool ^^ but I was sweating quite a bit and it was not very comfortable.

This morning, I attended the bead jewelry class at the same place. I love this course. Personally, I love to do handicraft work like this. It is a great skill to learn, and I can buy my own beads and accessories to make my own jewelry in the future. Here's what I completed today - my first handmade necklace! ^^

Now, I am completing a second type of necklace, which is called a floating necklace. When it is done, I'll take a picture of it. This week has been great! I am keeping myself well-occupied. Soon, Teng and I will be planning a small party for our ex-classmates. And, I have a wedding dinner to attend this weekend too! Busy, busy, busy!

Don't go stealing a baby

The poor mother. The poor baby. Stealing money and cars is bad enough. Why go steal someone's baby? I just read in the newspapers today that a baby can fetch RM20,000 in the black market. To sell a baby...

A baby. How can someone be so cruel to take a baby and sell its body parts? Or raise it to serve as a beggar? All this just for people's greed for money? For health and longevity reasons just by eating a baby (or its organs)? This may sound absurd, but the black market can no longer hide its indespicable business tactics. There's no need to question the truth of the black market's ways. But why use a baby?

A newborn baby is a proof of life. It is a proof of human existence, of the cycle of life. I guess evil is just everywhere these days. Whoever that stole the baby from its rightful family has sinned and I believe it will bring bad karma.

Hospitals. How can they be so lax in their security?

At times like this, I tell myself that perhaps there is no hope anymore in searching for a good heart. I pray, if I do meet a good-natured human, let it be one who can bring back some sense into all of us.

May God bless the lost child who only needs to return home safely to his mother's arms.

Just be there for me

No point mourning over the end of a relationship. Hence, I need a new boyfriend. I can have everything else in this world except a true and happy relationship. So be it. After all, each and everyone of us is born with a pre-destined life.

I am going to my dance class tomorrow and enjoy it.
I am going to watch Ghost Train with William, and either laugh at it with an open heart or shiver at its horrific story (I don't know why I chose that movie, and I know it is going to be one lame ghost show but what the heck).
I am going to feel pretty everyday, especially at my cousin's wedding this weekend.
I am going to live every single moment with a smile in my heart.

Always in love

Yesterday, Teng and I went hunting around for dance classes. We were kind of silly for we did not know where to start searching, and just popped into anyone that we spotted along the road. Such jakuns we were, Teng! XD But we were glad that we found what we wanted at our last stop - SkillsPoint. They offer a variety of classes ranging from dance, nail/tattoo art to English classes. It was interesting and the people there were friendly. I enrolled myself in the Hip Hop dance and the bead jewelry class. I hope it would be fun ^^

While talking to Teng about my ex, I realized something important. Before, I just could not admit it myself because it hurts each time I think of the past memories we shared. And the break-up was so sudden, it came as a shock to me. I do want him back. Deep down in my heart, I really want to be with him again. However, I can only leave it to the hands of fate for now. If time permits, if fate exists between us, we shall meet again and go on from there. Parents tend to point out the worse traits in your lovers or ex-lovers, and so it did affect my decisions somehow. But isn't love blind and painful sometimes?

Even if I try to run away from past mistakes, to ignore this feeling called love, I can never fall out of love. I will always be in love. And I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I just want to forget ...

Car-less, "A"-less ... hopeless

It is so hard to get around without a car. It is at times like this when I wish Malaysia can provide a better public transportation system like they do in Australia or Canada. I can't even depend on the bus to get anywhere. Not even the taxi (it's dangerous these days for girls to take the cab alone). Plus, they cheat your money. Oh yeah, they make a hole in our pockets. It is such a hassle. For me and for the driver. It is ridiculously inconvenient.

I have to admit this. I am growing tired of life in Malaysia. Don't get me wrong - I love shopping here, and I love the culture and my home. However, seeing that the country is still not fixing things right - no wait, not even trying to recognize the root of the problem, I doubt that I would start my future life on Malaysian soil.

Simple things such as public transportation, education, public services ... have any of us seen progress in these areas? Where has all the money gone to, especially our taxpayers' money?

We need to look to our neighbours public transportation systems. Come on. Look at that and compare it with ours. Need I say more?

Look at the what the education system has produced - students who are spoiled with those prestigious "A"s sketch on their PMR/SPM certificates. Come on, how many others can get those same straight A's? Still, these students are demanding for scholarships to do medicine in England? Yikes, a pampered lot.

I feel like telling these students to go and sit for STPM (A-levels equivalent/Grade 13), get those straight A's, and then talk about a worthy scholarship. If you can prove you are an excellent, all-rounder STPM student, then you are worthy of scholarships from anywhere around the world. NOT SPM 10 or 17 A's achievers, please. Wake up, people. Your A's are not all that great because it is not of recognized standard. And for the love of God, stop demanding where you want to go. Since when did students have the right to choose scholarships? Bloody hell. The world is turning upside down. As if Seoul University in Korea is not good enough. As if the National University of Australia is not good enough for you. In my humble opinion, the only two renown universities are Harvard and Oxford. Don't waste your time, picky sticks. You are not choosing spouses. We should be grabbing any opportunity that is in front of us in education. If you have been given a scholarship, accept it with gratitude. Stop demanding. You are your education not the type of university, not the place. Think of the big picture. Think outside the box.

Public services, oh, where do I start?

No matter how much I complain, no matter how I voice my concerns, it will be of no use. For it will never be put to great use in the development of the nation. Such is the twist of destiny. The human heart is changing. So many crimes. So many wars and disasters. Many are blinded by fanaticism in religion. Many more are becoming selfish of their needs.

There is a time when a hero comes and save us all - a great leader that puts responsibility and care to his nation; a wise minister who will push the nation forward into the realms of discovery and success; a person's faith that will put us on the right path in life. That time, it seems, can only be found in stories. And, we always wonder why can't the world be a better place to live in.

What to do?

Obviously, I have not been blogging in my precious space because I have yet to do anything exciting. I hate to say this again and again and again... I am bored!

Every morning, I try to wake up on the wrong side of bed just to stir up some suspense for myself. I would either end up falling off the bed carelessly or let my body weight succumb to gravity and slide slowly, and lazily to the ground on purpose. It all depends on the, uh, type of position I am in at the edge of the bed.

The next thing I do, regardless of its infamous routined style, is brushing and washing my pimply face. I hate pimples. In my opinion, they should not exist at all on anyone's face. Would that not be fair? It is such a big annoyance when it scars the face, and it keeps growing back at the same spot. Grrrrrrrr. I hate pimples.

Well, most certainly, I would turn on the computer next. I would check my mails (if I have any). I would visit my blog and procrastinate on whether I should blog or not. I would visit a few other blogs. Maybe a chat or two on MSN. I will get bored eventually, and so I would turn to computer games instead. No I don't play DotA or whatever it is called. Nor do I play Ragnarok. I play old, outdated games such as Age of Mythology, Civilization 3, and Age of Empires 2. I play with cheats because I think it is stupid to spend quite an amount of $$ for the game only to follow the rules like a faithful dog. No offence, but this is because I am no expert at these games (unlike those pro gamers that visit the internet cafe as if it is their second home) and with the cheats I get to explore the game more thus I would feel it was worth paying for.

By noon, I would be rotting either on my bed, at the sofa or in the bathroom. I am happy when mum comes home in the evening because I get to help her to cook. At least, I am doing something. I love to cook as well. Too bad my kitchen doesn't have an oven. If it does, I would be baking all the way and stuffing my sister with my cakes and cookies muahahhaha!

ASTRO does not interest me these days. Their shows repeat a zillion times (I know they can't help it). They do not have interesting shows. We lost the ASTRO guide. I do spend quite a lot of time reading but hey, how long can reading keep you still? I will go swimming if it does not rain. Having said that, yesterday, there were a bunch of uncivilized teenagers who went into the pool with their jeans. And they think they are so cool puffing out cigarette smoke through their mouths. Idiots. Smoking their lives away at the age of sixteen. I decided to emigrate to the wading pool, which was not so clean, and that made my mood worse. Bunch of eggheads.

Grrr. I need to go shopping.

Melbourne 2005

I am back! ^^

My one-week holiday in Melbourne, Australia, was splendid! I would love to go there again, or perhaps, consider taking graduate studies at Melbourne University. That all depends, of course. Well, I guess I will start blogging about my trip, and I should probably start from the moment we stepped into KLIA ...

We took the night flight. If my mum had told my dad the exact departure time, we would have missed the flight to Melbourne. You see, my dad sold the car to my cousin, Desmond. That evening, dad decided to take the car to him after which, Desmond can test-drive the car as he sends us to the airport. Five minutes after we entered KLIA, my dad realized that he left his camera and video-cam bag in the car. Desmond managed to make a turn back to return it. We got the bag, proceeded to the check-in counter and queued. However, as we got to the end of the line, my mum realized that there was one luggage missing ...

Naturally, my cousin had to turn back to pick my mum up and send her home to get the luggage. Our flight was scheduled to depart at 9.15 p.m. but without mum's "white lie" (she told us that it was departing at 8.30 p.m.), we would have missed the flight. Interesting scene, eh? It was scary because my dad was angry and he blamed us for not getting everything ready properly. Oh well :P

We arrived at Melbourne airport at 6.45 a.m.. By the time we got the rented car out on the road, it was already 7.30 a.m.. Our plan was to head straight to Warnambool, Victoria. Since we were quite hungry and dad was tired of driving, we stopped by at the next big city - Geelong, Victoria. There, we ate breakfast and spent about an hour at the National Wool Museum.

It was a great experience. We learnt lots from this visit to the wool musuem; from the type of sheeps to the machinery used to make woolen clothes, carpets and socks. A friendly guide explained to us how the wool industry came about, and how some of the machines work. At the end of the brief tour, my sister and I each got a sample of stockings from him :)

Without further delay, we continued or journey to Warnambool. Guiding dad with the map is not an easy task but without our help, dad would not have been able to drive around. Fortunately, they have very organized road systems (unlike Malaysia *ahem*). I considered it a big bonus in this trip! ^^

First, we went to the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum in Warnambool. We were a little late to tour the village but we bought tickets to see the sound & laser show at night. After that, we went to the whale watching bay. No whales were in sight but the scenery was breathtaking. To my surprise, the sea was very rough and the wind was strong. It was chilly!

I must say, the sound & laser show was not very fantastic. It was just some true story about a shipwreck. The laser show was ... I would grade it 3 out of 10. They can do better than that :P

The next morning, we went back to the Flagstaff Hill Village. Every scenic place in Australia is beautiful. It is definitely a perfect get-away for nature-loving tourists!

We continued our journey along the Great Ocean Road to Apollo Bay. It was quite a boring drive for my dad but we did see a lot of farms, cows, horses and sheeps! Very beautiful indeed. At Apollo Bay, we stopped by the Bay of Islands. Then, we went to see the 12 Apostles. We could only see five distinct ones but we were informed that the others were somewhat hidden. Still, it was a great view.

We also went to see a majestic lighthouse.

We spent a night at Apollo Bay and drove up to Melbourne city the next day. We were at the city for about four days. There was shopping, visits to my aunt margaret's place, and a half-day of golf for my dad (very important to him, you see) ...

It is interesting to know that, besides buses and taxis, public transport in Melbourne city does not run on underground rapid trains. Instead, they use trams. And these trams can take you pretty far into the suburbs! I do envy the public transportation systems in Australia. Very organized, well-planned, and convenient. I would say far better than my place in Canada.

Also, they are very strict about drinking and driving. There was a random test on the freeway and our car got pulled over. It was my dad's first time using the breathalizer, haha! You cannot drive even if you had a sip of alcohol. Not even a sip.

We did take a tram to Melbourne Zoo. It has been more than 8 years since I last went to the zoo. I was very excited to see the animals. I wanted to see the kangaroos so badly, haha! However, the kangaroos at the zoo were lazy asses. They just sat and lazed around, and stared at the people who came to visit them. I guess they are changed by the nature of their habitat. At the zoo, you get fed! So why move around and hunt for food? Bunch of lazy roos!

We were suppoze to go to Ballarat to see the gold mines, but dad decided that it was not worth the trip. Instead, we went to the Yarra Ranges where the vineyards and winery cottages are. It was ... beautiful. I bet it would be even prettier in the summer when the grapevines are in growth!

We also went to the Heathesville Animal Sanctuary. Unfortunately, my camera was out of battery, and so I do not have any pictures from this lovely place. We paid a little more than the entrance fee to the zoo but it was definitely worth it. I touched a koala bear! And the kangaroos there were so close to us! Maybe just 10-20 feet away from us!! It was fun. I was happy to be in close contact with these animals, especially the kangaroos!

On our last day in Melbourne, we woke up early to check out of the hotel. We decided to stop by the Royal Botanical Gardens before heading to the airport. Again, it was beautiful :P What more can I say?

Home: KL, Malaysia
School: U of A

I am someone who frets a lot - I call it a psychological disorder. I am constantly trying to escape my complex mind which, very often, drives me and my close companions to the edge of insanity. Born under the sun star Libra, I am greatly affected by a disease called "indecisiveness". Nicknames were never part of my dictionary until I met some people who decided to name me "turtle". Soon, I was representing a zoo of hamsters, "sotongs", pigs, cats, etc...
